Home Foreclosures Down to 2007 Levels

The number of houses foreclosed on during last year dropped to 1.89 million in 2011, a decrease of 34 percent from 2010 foreclosures. The drop was largely influenced by the “robo- signing” scandal that lenders faced recently.

Foreclosure numbers are expected to increase during 2012 as foreclosure filing numbers started rising again during the 4th quarter of 2011.
